Entrepreneurs will be able to produce energy for their own needs, and settle surpluses in a favorable discount system - this will be the effect of the so-called The Prosumer Package, which is part of the amendment to the RES Act.

Granting entrepreneurs the prosumer status of renewable energy, in conjunction with other legal changes and facilitation in photovoltaic investments, will allow to reduce the costs of energy necessary for the functioning of the enterprise.
The so-called. The prosumer package provides, among others:

  • introducing a new definition of "renewable energy prosumer" and including it to entrepreneurs for whom energy production is not the subject of the prevailing economic activity. Prosumer will be able to generate electricity in micro installations (power up to 50kW),
  • including prosumers in such a system of discounts. This will give them the opportunity to generate electricity for their own needs. Surpluses will be able to "store" in the power grid of energy operators, and then collect them to meet their energy needs,
  • energy settlement in longer settlement cycles, which will enable the use of energy it produces in periods of lower production, which does not meet the needs of entrepreneurs,
  • commitment of the Minister for Energy and the Minister for the Economy to issue, in agreement, an executive regulation specifying the detailed rules and procedure for connecting micro-installations belonging to prosumers to the network, as well as the scope and principles of balancing and settlements with prosumers,
  • resignation from the obligation to prepare a construction project for the smallest micro-installations with a capacity of up to 6.5 kW,
  • introducing the possibility of locating micro-installations in areas that are intended for non-production purposes in local plans.
