The "GovTech Polska - Activate ideas!" Program is implemented under the auspices of the Prime Minister. Its purpose is to improve the dialogue between the public sector and innovative entrepreneurs, start-ups and the scientific community. Entrepreneurs take part in competitions regarding challenges submitted by entities involved in the project - public institutions and state-owned companies.
One of the entities that joined the "GovTech Polska" program is KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. - Participation in the program is connected with the assumptions of our strategy for 2019-2023, which is one of the pillars of e-industry. Commitment to the search and implementation of innovative solutions and the use of advanced technologies in our plants increases the efficiency of the company. Solutions developed as part of involvement in "GovTech Polska" will be another element of the technological development of KGHM - said Adam Bugajczuk, Vice President of the KGHM Board for Development.

The company from the Copper Belt posed a challenge to innovators in the organization of the work of road maintenance services at the Głogów smelter. The task of the participants of the KGHM competition will be to create a solution in the field of image analytics combined with autonomous decision making. It will be used as part of the organizational system for maintaining almost 70 km of roads owned by Głogów Smelter. Currently, this system is based on the work of a dispatcher who drives vehicles to places where their work is needed (e.g. sweepers, snowblowers or watering cans). These activities are carried out based on information from the employees of the smelter or from companies providing services. The vehicles also drive according to a predetermined schedule.

- The IT solution that is the subject of the competition is to ensure that the created system autonomously directs road maintenance services to the appropriate points of the Głogów Copper Smelter, based on the analysis of records from CCTV monitoring. In addition, the system would also verify the work and take into account the priorities for the facilities. The implementation of such an IT solution will lead to an increase in the efficiency of vehicles operating on the premises of the smelter and will improve the work of the dispatcher who will be able to focus on other tasks. We are already implementing the KGHM 4.0 program related to the processes of digitization and computerization of plants and we see how innovations positively translate into everyday work in our assets - explains Ireneusz Jazownik, General Director of the Central Information Processing Center of KGHM.
The competition organized by KGHM is dedicated to start-ups as well as companies from the SME sector. It will be divided into two stages. In the first stage, participants will have to prepare the concept of the system and show the possibility of its implementation with the assumed level of effectiveness. From among all applications, the jury will select five works whose authors will be able to work on the right products. From among these five, a winner will be selected who will be invited to negotiate the purchase in free hand mode.

Thanks to "GovTech Polska" and the competition initiated by KGHM, Polish innovative companies will be given the opportunity to engage in solving significant challenges that will measurably increase efficiency in one of the largest Polish companies. It will also be a unique opportunity for enterprises from the SME sector and start-ups to develop their contacts and activities.
